Creative Lead - Visual Media Europe

Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our Lisbon office as part of the Visual Graphics & Media function. 

We provide McKinsey consultants with visual communications, design and media support. You will also work with our consultants teams and other colleagues across the firm. 

What You'll Do

You will support our consulting teams as they serve our clients, by proposing and creating the visual concept for impactful design and media solutions (digital and print), leading a team of designers in the production, and providing guidance and advice on the use of media as a storytelling lever. 

In this role, you will be staffed to lead high-complexity, high-visibility creative media projects for our client communication, and support our consulting teams across Europe in co-creating the best design/communication solutions. You will ensure that the creative project team delivers products of the highest quality. During the creative project development, you will maintain ongoing accurate and timely communications regarding the project status (including budget, timelines and lead times).
You will also support the continuous process improvements of our service, helping to scale up new offerings as a major contribution to enhanced ways of collaborating with clients. In addition, you may be involved in, or asked to lead and project-manage, internal strategic efforts and initiatives within your regional or the global department.

  • Degree (BA/Masters) in a design-related area (e.g., Graphic Design, Corporate Design, Visual Communication Design, Motion Design, Film and Animation), Masters degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as an Art Director, leading design teams throughout projects (end-to-end) and taking responsibility for the end products in a corporate or design agency; preferred focus is corporate visual communications (print and digital media products).
  • Experience in conceptualizing ideas into designs, data visualization, corporate design.
  • Solid knowledge of design and communications strategies and approaches
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe CC/CS and PowerPoint. Competent in other common MS Office programs. A spike in skills or software knowledge related to specific area of visual communication/media design (e.g., hand-drawn illustration skills, motion design expertise).
  • Experience in the area of UI/UX and working with web content management systems such as Drupal are an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English (C1) and either Portuguese, Spanish, German, Italian or French (C1).
  • Expert communicator, who presents with confidence and is a strong listener.
  • Superior interpersonal skills to build a strong network of clients and colleagues.
  • High level of organizational and project-management skills, plus a strong problem-solver.
  • Shows strong judgement and tactical thinking.
  • Ability to work well independently or collaboratively with diverse project teams, comfortable with and energized by planning and managing multiple projects in parallel, and adapting to a changing and ambiguous environment.
