Our new Seattle office space

I’ve written in the past about some of the benefits of local client work and my interest in increasing the amount of time I spend locally. I’ve been doing a lot of client development work recently—specifically from a geographic perspective.

Originally from Australia, Denise joined our Stamford office in the fall of 2014 as an experienced hire, and transferred to the Seattle office in the fall of 2016. She's served a wide range of clients in her consulting career and is now focused on food companies in the consumer, retail, and logistics industries. Denise holds degrees in commerce and economics from the University of Queensland. She has lots of personal interests, including cooking, restaurant-exploring, anything outdoors, playing the saxophone, keeping up with the latest on entrepreneurship and gender issues, and exploring her new home country with family and friends.

Hi everyone,

I’ve written in the past about some of the benefits of local client work and my interest in increasing the amount of time I spend locally. I’ve been doing a lot of client development work recently—specifically from a geographic perspective. Ultimately, what excites me most is our ability to help a company or potential client shape their vision on where they want to go and what they want to achieve, and I have so much passion for doing this with companies in or close to my backyard! So, I’m working with leaders to increase our conversations with existing and potential clients and discover new ways that McKinsey can help them.

The kitchen in our new Seattle office—check out the view!

While we’re on the local theme, our office recently moved into an incredible new space!

We renovated and moved to the new space in December, just before holiday break. The team did an unbeatable job at designing the space, and now people absolutely love coming into the office. There are lots of open spaces, rooms for collaboration, and colors of the Pacific North West—it’s perfect for the close community vibe that have in Seattle. We even held an Office Thanksgiving lunch – and one of our colleagues cooked Turkey and Ham, which we supplemented with a bunch of appropriate sides and desserts. It was such a feast (and an amazing way to break the new office in)!!

One more peek at the new office

This move emphasized for me how much the working environment impacts productivity and positive energy. Our community has such a different feel in this new space, and this energy translates to people feeling inspired to create things and build new ideas.

In my next post I will share more about some of the office initiatives I’m working on.
