Meet members of our LGBTQ+ community for drinks in London

Meet London-based associate Toby and learn more about McKinsey during an informal drinks moment on the 13th of October.

Almost two years into my time at McKinsey I received a phone call as I was boarding a flight in Denmark. “Toby, I have a super exciting project starting next week. It is in digital, in transportation, and it will be very cool”. These calls are fairly common, but this time I knew from the excitement on the other end of the line that it would be very special.

Two weeks later, I was having breakfast with some leaders in the transportation industry in Europe. They had made the bold decision to create something new and disruptive in the transportation space and I was going to help shape their vision. Over the next eight weeks, my team and I met with many CEOs on both sides of the Atlantic and we designed a company from scratch in six weeks. It was exhilarating.

The best thing about this project was the team. A team that went to the gym each day together. A team that encouraged each member to be ourselves so we could be creative and deliver the best answer. A team that supported me leaving on a Thursday to go to our global LGBTQ+ conference.
