A coffee chat with Irina

1) Who are you?
I’m a third–year consultant, based in Berlin. Originally, I’m from Russia and I joined McKinsey in 2016 after studying economics in Berlin and Paris.

2) What have you done at McKinsey?
I’m focused on digital transformation and cyber security. Next to this, I was an interim manager at our Experience Studio in Berlin for a little while. This place allows McKinsey to connect with and serve the Berlin startup community to help build entrepreneurs’ digital capabilities.

3) What was your most exiting cyber project?
My most exciting engagement was working at the intersection of Internet of Things and cyber security. Our role was to identify potential risks along the customer journey of a connected device. After identifying main security concerns, we worked on deriving mitigating actions and supported the client in kicking–off a new connectivity solution.

4) What has been one of your biggest challenges?
Even after several years of working at McKinsey, the chaos–plagued Berlin airport remains my biggest challenge.

5) What is the most exciting part of cyber?
I am a tech enthusiast, motivated by working on societal challenges. As cyber matters for everyone, contributing to solving this issue, is a rewarding task.

6) What are your Friday or weekend plans?
Friday, I start my day with a boxing training, followed by working from my home–office. Being a foodie, I spend my weekend enjoying brunch, coffee and dinner with friends, family and good music in Berlin.
