Helping make a difference to LGBTQ+ youth

David found his home within the GLAM (LGBTQ+ at McKinsey) network. Recently, he took the support he’s received forward by helping the Trevor Project build out one of its strategic priorities.

Since I joined McKinsey as a summer business analyst, GLAM has been more than a professional network. It has been my home. GLAM members and allies have become some of my closest friends, mentors, and sponsors (mentors who do more than just advise – those that create opportunities for me). They acknowledge and support my identity both inside and out of work. GLAM ensures my voice is heard; a safe space is never far away; and I can bring my true, full self to work every day.

Through GLAM, I’ve been afforded many opportunities to learn and grow. One of the most rewarding was leading our pro–bono partnership with The Trevor Project. We built out one of their core strategic priorities, defining steps the organization could take over the next couple of years to achieve its goal of extending its services for the LGBTQ+ community. It has been so important to me to contribute to Trevor’s mission – the life–saving work Trevor does is integral to LGBTQ+ individuals, organizations, and communities. We need to continue to raise awareness and help create a safer space for LGBTQ+ youth.
