Diversity Connect

Diversity Connect supports the professional interests and growth of talented Black, African-American, Hispanic, Latino, and/or Native American students who are pursuing a PhD, postdoc, MD and/or JD degree.

At McKinsey & Company, we believe that a diverse, inclusive culture enriches our creativity, innovation, and problem-solving abilities. We are excited to meet diverse Advanced Professional Degree candidates who strive for meaningful change at our inaugural Diversity Connect event.
This 1.5-day program includes interactive workshops, activities to sharpen interview skills, engaging social activities as well as exciting panels and speakers. We hope you’ll join us for this opportunity to learn about consulting and McKinsey and connect with your peers alongside a group of inspiring McKinsey professionals.

Who is eligible?

Successful applicants will have strong academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and proven leadership ability. We are looking for students who are accomplished and well-rounded with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

We welcome applicants who are interested in consulting as a possible career path as well as those who are exploring other options.

Other requirements include:

  • You identify as Black, African-American, Hispanic, Latino, and/or Native American race or ethnicity
  • You’re expected to receive your PhD, postdoc, MD or JD degree (or master’s from HKS) in 2020
  • You’re enrolled at Columbia, Duke, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Harvard Kennedy School (apart from dual MBA degrees), Johns Hopkins, MIT, NYU, Northwestern, Princeton, University of Chicago, University of Michigan, UPenn, and Yale
  • Your graduate program is included here: medical students, interns, residents and fellows who plan to complete their program in 2020; PhDs and postdocs who plan to complete their program in 2020; and only those master’s students who previously obtained an MD and who plan to complete their master’s degree in 2020 and students from HKS
  • You may apply to both Diversity Connect and Insight, but will be selected to attend only one program (please state 1st preference on your applications if you apply to both)

Please Note:

  • Please enter post-doc and post-medical school training (internship, residency, and fellowship) as education.
  • We do not consider office/practice preferences in our selection process. However, we do find your selections helpful in making sure we are connecting you with the people who represent the regions or practices that are of interest to you, including non-US locations!

Selected candidates will be evaluated on application materials and a brief phone interview (no prior business knowledge is required).
