Six types of successful acquisitions
Six types of successful acquisitions
This month, McKinsey Classics gives our readers the best of both worlds: an updated classic. “The five types of successful acquisitions” has been among the most consistently popular articles on our website since we first published it, in 2010. In its revised form—“Six types of successful acquisitions”—the authors have expanded their take on the landscape of value-creating M&A and updated many of the examples. As the article notes, McKinsey’s long experience shows that most successful deals tend to conform to at least one of six strategies. Other approaches can create value but not as readily. Read the piece to find out which is which.
