Brings deep expertise in energy-market dynamics, design, and regulation, as well as in decarbonization pathways, clean technology, renewable integration, and storage valuation

Amy is an expert in energy-market design and regulation and a global leader for McKinsey’s renewables and clean-technology work. She serves utilities, investors, and leading technology and distributed-energy resources providers.

Amy has helped clients to assess near- and long-term dynamics in a range of energy markets and use analytics to develop innovative business models under different policy and regulatory scenarios. She has also supported investors with due diligence for project acquisitions. Within McKinsey, she contributes to our knowledge development and has led the design and development of several proprietary energy-modeling tools, including our renewable-integration-energy-dispatch model and our storage-valuation-and-adoption tool.

Examples of Amy’s recent client projects include the following:

  • exploring pathways to electrification and decarbonization by 2050 for a consortium of utilities in Europe
  • supporting the transformation of a Caribbean utility and electric grid
  • working with a US utility to develop its electric-vehicle strategy, taking into account a range of adoption scenarios and infrastructure-investment risks
  • advising a large solar developer on an ambitious growth strategy, including an expansion in storage

Amy has supported numerous US utilities in evaluating options for regulatory models, rate design, and new sources of revenue, and conducted due diligence in a number of acquisitions of demand-response and storage companies.

Before joining McKinsey, Amy was a director at a boutique consulting firm that develops sophisticated analytical tools for regulators, utilities, and other energy-market participants.
