Marco is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Zurich office and co-leads our work in Petrochemicals in EMEA. With a track record of scientific achievements in chemistry, he has led over 400 engagements in chemical-related sectors. He works with companies throughout Europe and Asia to identify and execute growth strategies, improve operational performance, and develop effective organizational structures, processes, and capabilities.
Marco serves many leading global biotechnology companies, helping them to grow in bioplastics, biofuels, biopharmaceuticals, and other biobased materials. He recently spent two years in our Tokyo office, where he assessed investment opportunities in petrochemicals in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, helped develop a growth strategy in new materials for a Japanese chemical company, and identified opportunities in specialty chemicals for a European company seeking to expand in Japan, Korea, and China.
A frequent speaker at industry and academic events, Marco has lectured on a range of environmental science issues including biofuels, bioplastics, green logistics, and CO2 abatement. He has won numerous scientific awards and speaks German, French, English, Italian, Romansh, Russian, and Japanese.
