When I was a college senior who didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up the McKinsey team saw my potential and invested in me.
As a senior at the University of Texas in Austin. I was ambitious, intellectually curious, and aspiring to be a future business leader. When I learned about McKinsey and the business analyst role I was convinced it was the perfect place to start my career. I’d get exposure to a variety of different industries and functions which would help me decide what I wanted to do for a "real job". I was expecting to stay for 2 years and use my McKinsey experience as a launching pad to business school and beyond.
Almost 6 years later, I’m still at McKinsey. As I expected, I have served many clients across a wide range of industries and functions and I’ve worked with some of the world’s most influential companies on their most challenging issues and opportunities. I also have been fortunate enough to find my professional passions as a member of the Travel and Marketing and Sales practices.
Unrivaled opportunities for development
I’ve stayed at McKinsey because I’m convinced it’s the single best leadership factory in the world. I haven’t found another institution that could offer me the same opportunities to develop my business knowledge and leadership potential. The responsibility I’m given is always just outside my comfort zone, but I work with teams composed of bright people and experts who are dedicated to both delivering impact to our clients and to help me grow.
I’ve also built life-long friendships that have helped me grow personally. My McKinsey friends in the Southern offices and from around the world keep my life full and balanced. When we’re not in the office you can probably find us traveling to catch a football game, concert, or even just to visit a great restaurant.
Today, I lead our recruiting team at the University of Texas and am heavily involved in both associate and business analyst recruiting for the Dallas office. When I was a college senior who didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up, the McKinsey team saw my potential and invested in me. As a recruiting leader, I have the opportunity to have the same impact on others while helping shape the future of our office and the firm.
