The collaborative and nonhierarchal environment at McKinsey and the ‘Southern’ compassion here in Texas keeps me excited and looking forward to what’s on the horizon.
I joined McKinsey right out of college as a business analyst and have been here ever since. While I never thought I’d be here 7.5 years later, McKinsey has continued to be the best fit for me professionally and personally. As an undergraduate, I was looking for a job where I could get global experience in different industries and functions, work with exceptionally talented people from all walks of life, and be consistently presented with new challenges.
While all these things are part of my McKinsey life, the reason I have stayed 7.5 years is the people. Not only have I made some very close friends but the care my mentors, teams, and office colleagues have shown surpasses any expectation I had. Additionally, I’ve appreciated the individual path McKinsey lets me carve out for myself. So far that path has ranged from being a generalist BA, to spending 6 months doing internal firm work (twice actually!), to spending 5 months in Dubai, and 6 months in Korea working on different engagements. I have worked in the High Tech and Media sectors as well as Retail as an engagement manager.
Although I’ve travelled the world at McKinsey, I’ve always called the Dallas location home and can’t ever imagine leaving the Southern office. I’ve grown up in this office both professionally and personally, as I went from a business analyst to now an associate principal. The collaborative and non-hierarchal team environment at McKinsey and the “Southern” compassion here in Texas keeps me excited and looking forward to what’s on the horizon.
