Our Singapore office is very diverse with colleagues coming from a range of countries, backgrounds and experiences, all working together to serve clients.
Creating lasting impact
What attracted me to McKinsey is the quality of people. I am surrounded by colleagues who continuously push themselves and are very down to earth. That, and the opportunity to create lasting impact for our clients makes McKinsey a very attractive place for me. For example, during my early days in the firm, I served a European non-profit medical foundation. It was wonderful to see how the firm brought experts from all over the world to help develop a new business model as well as to generate insights on how the foundation can remain economically sustainable while still serving its core purpose of saving lives.
One firm culture
Since joining McKinsey, I am constantly impressed by our one firm culture. Prior to moving to Singapore, I was based in London and Chicago but regardless of geographical location, we deliver the same quality of service to our clients. I often work with teams where we have consultants from all over the world working together on a client situation. The consistency in quality and firm culture allows us to bring the most relevant consultants to our clients, and start solving their problems from Day 1.
Moving to Asia to build the new McKinsey
I moved to Asia in 2012 to launch McKinsey Solutions – our data and analytics unit. It has been an amazing entrepreneurial journey for me to help build one of the fastest growing units in Asia from scratch. Being based in Singapore has magnified the impact of McKinsey Solutions and other new ventures for clients throughout Asia. Singapore’s position as the Asia Pacific hub has helped me to stay connected with our clients’ regional and global priorities.
Our Singapore office is very diverse with colleagues coming from a range of countries, backgrounds and experiences, all working together to serve clients. Very often I meet candidates who try to tailor their experiences to fit our firm but the most successful ones are honest about their experiences and demonstrate good business instincts.
