Mobility, flexibility and impact

Coming from a Computer Science background, McKinsey was not the obvious choice but I was attracted to the work we do and the mobility it provides. Since joining the firm in 2010, I have lived in three countries – India, Belgium and Singapore – worked in over eight, held four roles, and collaborated with colleagues from all around the world. To me, that is one of the greatest assets – the ability to be involved in changing the landscape of business not only in one country or industry, but across geographies and sectors.

My first role was in our India office in 2010 as a junior analyst focusing on data analytics and subsequently I moved to be part our Marketing & Sales Practice helping clients optimize their pricing decisions. I then moved to Belgium and helped lead the development of McKinsey Solutions – Panorama, Performance Lens and Wave. My most recent move last year was to Singapore, as part of McKinsey Digital to help clients in the region with their digital transformation journeys.

Forefront of disruption

My decision to join the firm was inspired by the tremendous learning opportunities it provides, as well as by how McKinsey is leading disruption in the industry – moving from traditional consulting to one that values technology and data-driven insights.

With my background and love for analytics, I found space to grow and to “make my own McKinsey,” as the firm allows people with diverse backgrounds to thrive and succeed and it truly believes in the culture of nurturing individuals’ abilities and allowing them to pursue their passions.

Unrivalled mentorship

One of the biggest reasons why McKinsey is a great place to work is the people. Everyone in the firm is committed to your professional and personal growth, and is always willing to help you in your journey. Partners will spend hours coaching you while your peers will provide you with honest and actionable feedback, aimed at making your next challenge easier. The constant development opportunities through training programs provide both functional knowledge and leadership coaching.
