About Vivek

Vivek is based in McKinsey’s Mumbai office. He leads our Private Equity and Principal Investor Practice across Asia, serving the world’s leading investors and shareholders on investment strategy, operations, origination, diligence, transformations, and exits. Among shareholders, Vivek serves family-owned businesses, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and private equity funds. Prior to this role in our Private Equity Practice, Vivek led our Telecommunications, Media and Technology Practice, advising leading companies on strategy, operations, sales, and M&A.

Recent engagements include sales acceleration for a telecom player, profitability transformation of a telecom carrier, growth turnaround for an insurance company, cross-border acquisitions in pharmaceuticals and media, building a cloud business, and technology-enabled education business. Vivek supports investor clients across a wide range of sectors, recent examples include: chemicals, cement, healthcare, pharma, film production, cable TV, apparel retail, IT services, auto components, off-road tires, and payments. Vivek’s current research focuses on investor strategies and capabilities that improve shareholder returns and investor effectiveness.

Vivek serves as a trustee of the Aspen Institute India, a director of St. Jude’s Cancer Care Centers, and sits on the Board of Governors of The Doon School and the Leadership Council of the Center for Advanced Studies of India at the University of Pennsylvania.

Vivek joined McKinsey in New York, where he was elected a partner. He has worked in offices across North America, Europe, Japan, and India.
