About Scott

Taking a comprehensive approach to performance, Scott works with health systems to design and implement cost-transformation programs while maintaining a focus on organizational health. Scott emphasizes an approach that engages employees and clinicians to maintain morale and drive sustained impact, even in the face of improvement mandates. Scott also leads our provider performance-improvement domain within McKinsey's healthcare-analytics and delivery group, which focuses on developing unique tool-based and technology solutions to deliver greater impact with faster velocity in this work.

Scott also spends time on increasingly important organization and stakeholder alignment and relationship issues. In a rapidly changing landscape, this allows health systems to develop and adapt quickly, find creative ways of engaging and aligning with physicians, meaningfully engage with consumers, and achieve scale.

Examples of recent work include the following:

  • leading the operational turnaround for an academic medical center focused on a broad range of levers, including labor productivity; revenue-cycle performance; inpatient, emergency-department, and operating-room throughput; and clinic optimization
  • leading a comprehensive supply-chain transformation for a large national provider
  • developing a partnership strategy for a top-tier academic medical center

As a physician, Scott has spent his entire career devoted to improving healthcare and remains passionate about driving health-system performance to deliver greater value and experience to consumers. Within the Denver community, Scott is active as a trustee of an independent school and serves as an advisory board member with A Little Help—an organization that works to keep the elderly in their homes and delay placement in nursing homes.
