About Richard

Richard is a partner in McKinsey’s London office. With deep expertise in downstream oil and chemicals, he serves clients from Europe to the Middle East and leads our Chemicals Practice in the UK.

Richard specialises in helping companies to transform their internal value chain by adopting new approaches to commercial excellence, supply-chain management, performance measurement, strategy formulation, and organisational design. His projects have included:

  • advising a $10 billion petrochemicals company on a large-scale reorganisation, including setting up a shared service organisation, restructuring R&D, refocusing the corporate core and defining strategic business units
  • supporting one of Europe's largest-ever cross-border integrations with the full spectrum of merger issues, from synergy calculation to accounting processes and cultural alignment. The deal delivered synergies worth more than €250 million
  • working with a specialty chemicals company on an extensive programme to build its commercial capabilities by adopting best practices in pricing, segmentation, governance, channel management, branding, salesforce effectiveness, and organisation
  • helping several specialty chemicals manufacturers to transform their supply chains by addressing the customer offer, sales administration, scheduling, and manufacturing practices
