About Philip

Philip leads our consumer work in Northern Europe. He works with the leaders of consumer and retail companies as they set strategy, optimize operations, boost the efficiency of manufacturing, develop new products, and seek to stay ahead of commercial evolution.

Since joining McKinsey in 2005, Philip has demonstrated expertise in operational strategy for durable goods, food and beverages, and a variety of consumer products. He helps companies analyze and improve operations to optimize efficiency and grow the business. This knowledge of consumer issues is complemented by an extensive background in advising private-equity firms seeking to make investments in the industry.

Examples of his work include the following:

  • leading extensive strategic and operations work with European and Asian dairy businesses
  • guiding process improvement for sales and operations, budgeting, and new product introduction for a US consumer company
  • developing multidimensional operations, strategy, and cost improvement programs for a global food business
  • working with a global brewer to improve manufacturing and procurement efficiency, including developing a new packaging strategy
  • creating a turnaround program for a European retail client
  • providing packaging guidance for European and US consumer and durable-goods companies
  • performing strategic and commercial due diligence for a private-equity client looking at acquisitions in consumer and packaging sectors

Philip speaks Danish and English and is conversant in German.
