Norbert is a senior partner in our South Africa office and leader of the global Social Sector Practice. Since relocating to South Africa in 2002, he has focused on serving clients that have a significant impact on the growth and development of the region.
Norbert brings a deep expertise in large-scale transformation programs, as well as experience in the implementation and delivery of critical public and social sector programs. He has extensive experience in a wide range of industries in sub-Saharan Africa and Europe, spanning both public and private sectors. He has worked with governments; critical infrastructure sectors, including utilities and railroads; high growth industries; and social sector organizations.
He serves as a board member of the Social Advancement Foundation in Johannesburg, a nonprofit organization that supports disadvantaged people by providing them with relevant consulting services and financial donations.
Norbert joined McKinsey in 1998 in the Munich office. He relocated to the South Africa office in 2002, where he was the office manager from 2006 until mid-2012, and he played an essential role in setting up McKinsey’s presence in Nigeria. During that time he also led the Africa Council, whose aim is to help continue to grow McKinsey’s involvement in the region.
He holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and an MS in aeronautical engineering from the Technical University of Munich.
