About Maximilian

A leader of McKinsey’s Travel, Transport & Logistics and Corporate Finance Practices in Europe, Maximilian advises companies in the travel, transport, and logistics sector on issues including strategy, commercial transformation, cost reduction, and network optimization. He has particular expertise in aviation (passenger and cargo carriers, ground handling, regulators, and private-jet management), logistics (postal, trucking, and freight forwarding), and shipping. Maximilian also applies deep industry and advanced analytics expertise to help clients answer their most complex network questions.

Maximilian’s recent work includes steering a large-scale program to reduce overhead costs at a prominent European network carrier, including implementation and rollout, leading to savings in excess of €200 million. He led a commercial transformation program (pricing, steering, and sales) and a global rollout for a leading air-cargo carrier, resulting in a 2 percent top-line improvement within a year. He also recently reviewed and redefined the civil-aviation air-transport policy and regulations for a Middle Eastern department of transportation and helped develop a long-term strategy for the classical mail business of a major European postal operator, which included redesigning the product portfolio.

At a prominent container-shipping company, Maximilian led the development of a 5-year strategic plan, including alignment of top management around core trends shaping the industry and definition of a set of concrete measures. This generated a profit uplift of 5 percent in the first year of implementation.

Before joining McKinsey, Maximilian worked at the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Sydney.
