About Maia

Maia is a leader in both our Operations and Organization practices. Since joining McKinsey in 1998, Maia has worked across a range of industries, with a primary focus on supply-chain topics for a variety of consumer and healthcare companies.

For the past 10 years, Maia has played a core role in developing McKinsey’s perspectives and approach to performance transformation and organizational change. Maia works with clients across the consumer healthcare value chain. Her clients have included product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers.

Examples of her recent supply-chain-transformation efforts include leading a multiyear operations improvement at a business unit of a large consumer health company. The work focused on planning, lean manufacturing, quality, and procurement to reduce the cost of goods sold by 15 percent and set a new direction for the supply chain as a strategic partner to the business.

In another project, Maia led a lean transformation for a major pharmaceutical company across its network of 15 plants globally, resulting in a 25 percent cost reduction with improved quality metrics, development of capabilities, and a culture-change program for approximately 10,000 client personnel. She also worked with a large retail-drug-store chain to strengthen the company’s supply processes—with a focus on improving in-stock performance of weekly in-store promotions.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Maia was as an officer in the United States Navy Civil Engineer Corps, stationed in Charleston, South Carolina and on a NATO base in Sicily, Italy.

Maia is currently on the board of LAND studio, which focuses on green-space development in Cleveland.
