Jochen is a partner in McKinsey’s Zurich office, where he specializes in serving major regional and global institutions in insurance. He has deep expertise in key insurance topics including strategy, customer insight generation, proposition, pricing, value-based steering, distribution, retention, profit and capital optimization, and supports clients to make the transformation to digital.
In his recent projects for insurance clients, Jochen has helped one company rethink its business model to find a path back to profitable growth in a shrinking market; developed a life insurance product based on an alternative guarantee concept; implemented predictive technical pricing models; redesigned the compensation for a tied agent network; developed cross-selling and retention strategies based on advanced customer segmentation and propensity models; helped a company to run an in-force book management program increasing profit run-rate and decreasing risk-capital absorption; and assisted a life insurer in overhauling and digitizing its offering, processes and IT systems.
Jochen is the leader of the European Life strategy service line and has extensive experience in the area of risk management in insurance.
Before joining McKinsey, Jochen completed a PhD in finance and managerial accounting at the University of Zurich and an MBA at the University of Tübingen.
