At EMEA level, Hortense heads McKinsey's Organization service line for the Electric Power and Natural Gas sector, and leads our work on Executive Transitions.
Now based in Paris, she previously worked in our Singapore office.
Across Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Hortense de la Boutetière works on transformation programs for large organizations facing discontinuities, in particular energy-sector clients, as well as hospitals and healthcare companies. Her advice focuses on diagnostic, functional reorganizations, and transformation-plan implementation phases, with an approach focusing on mixing the ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ aspects of such transformations. She also advises Executives when transitioning to new positions.
Recent examples of her work include:
- led a multi-year performance transformation of a leading European utility. Her involvement included conducting a rapid holistic performance diagnostic, structuring a transformation plan, and developing a program management office for sustaining performance improvements over time
- supported a leading European University Hospital on a comprehensive turnaround to reach financial sustainability while improving patient care. Her support involved operational transformations of Emergency Rooms leading to decrease in patients waiting time, and review of strategic plans and organization of 5 medical departments
- coordinated a multi-team performance transformation effort for a global pharmaceutical company, leading to identification, structuration and launch of detailed, innovative initiatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency at each step of the value chain
