About Giambattista

Giambattista is the global leader of McKinsey’s Insurance Risk Management Practice. He is also a member of the Americas Insurance Practice.

He is responsible for our activities at the intersection of risk, finance, and strategy on a variety of topics such as capital management and balance sheet optimization, regulatory strategy and compliance, investment strategy, and reinsurance optimization.

Giambattista has led McKinsey’s initiatives to understand the business implications of numerous new regulatory regimes, including Solvency II in Europe and ORSA in the United States.

His recent client work includes:

  • developing the risk appetite and risk strategy for a life and health insurance carrier in the US
  • designing a new risk organization and governance approach for a US life insurance group, and supporting its implementation
  • defining the investment and asset-liability management strategy of a large composite insurer
  • reviewing the product strategy of a life carrier in light of changed market conditions and a low-rates environment to sustain product risk-adjusted profitability
  • building a pension and retirement business line for a leading European financial group
