Leads McKinsey Board Services, our global service line helping CEOs and boards of directors improve corporate governance, and our Organization Practice in Scandinavia; offers deep expertise in strategy, corporate governance, transformational change, and leadership development

Frithjof is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Oslo office. He leads McKinsey Board Services, our global service line helping CEOs and boards of directors improve corporate governance. Frithjof also leads McKinsey’s Organization Practice in Scandinavia, helping clients develop high-performing organizations and leaders across the private and public sectors.

With a focus on strategy, transformational change, leadership, and governance, primarily for global resources and energy clients and public-sector institutions, Frithjof advises executives on how to lead change, develop a stronger leadership bench, and put in place better governance mechanisms.

For example, Frithjof has, over the course of a decade-long advisory relationship, helped an integrated global oil-and-gas company chart its globalization journey—helping redesign the company’s organizational structure and corporate center, supporting a major postmerger-integration process, developing a new leadership profile and leadership development principles, simplifying management systems and processes, and designing a cultural-change journey. As part of another advisory relationship, Frithjof supported a transformation and professionalization effort at a public-sector agency, helping it in its aspiration to deliver stronger performance than any peer organization.

To strengthen McKinsey’s advisory within corporate governance, Frithjof in 2013 co-led the establishment of McKinsey Board Services, a service line he currently leads globally. In this role, he has helped direct multiple board- and governance-related engagements, as well as McKinsey’s global surveys of best practices in board services.

Frithjof speaks frequently on the topics of transformational change and board governance, both in Norway and internationally.
