Eion works intensively with clients to drive lasting improvements in operational performance. Drawing on a background in engineering and more than 35 years of consulting and executive experience, Eion offers hands-on implementation support to clients in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, metal processing, and mining sectors. He has particularly deep experience turning around performance in oil and petrochemicals, using technical and organizational tools. With his cross-cultural experience, he adapts approaches that meet the unique needs of his clients.
His recent work includes:
- Supporting the safe and reliable restart of a large and complex metal refining facility that had been shut down for nine months
- Creating and deploying a process to help a metal refinery better define operational roles and interactions, leading to clear ownership and accountabilities for crucial performance drivers
- Establishing the momentum and initial results for a $30m improvement in operational performance for a metal smelter by implementing routines at all levels that maintain focus on delivering value.
Before joining McKinsey, Eion was a senior executive at Transfield Services where he oversaw operations and quality efforts. Before that, he was a deputy chief executive at Bapco, the national oil company of the Kingdom of Bahrain. In that role, he not only oversaw the refining and marketing business but also led a 50 percent reduction in significant safety incidents. Eion is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
