Specializing in the intersection between transportation and technology, Dirk's professional experience spans digitization, IT, technology, business transformation, and large-scale project management.
Dirk’s recent projects include developing a digital strategy for a European national railway company, including a digital unit to implement the strategy and two lighthouse projects: advanced analytics for predictive maintenance and a passenger collaboration platform. For a global logistics company, he led the setup of an agile product-development center for customer-journey digitization. The center refines processes in sales and operations that will lead to a cost reduction of approximately 30 percent in these processes. Dirk has also defined and developed an integrated mobility platform to plan, book, pay, and execute travel across modes.
Before joining McKinsey, Dirk was CEO of road and city mobility at Siemens, with approximately 3,000 employees active in about 40 countries. The portfolio included software, hardware, project execution, and services in the fields of road infrastructure, electronic tolling systems, and vertical IT solutions for transportation.
Dirk also held several management roles at Lufthansa Systems. As managing director, he was responsible for a broad portfolio of commercial and operational IT solutions for Lufthansa and many other airlines.
