About David

David is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Northeast office where he leads our healthcare work. He also recently took on leadership of our North American Pharmaceutical and Medical Products Practice (PMP). He previously led the global PMP Commercial Practice.

Over the last 15 years with McKinsey, David has served a broad range of healthcare clients. Examples include healthcare services companies, healthcare manufacturers, healthcare providers, and technology companies. His client service areas cover commercial performance, corporate strategy including mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, and organization.

In his work on commercial performance, David has served clients extensively on product launch efforts and has worked on a number of launches regarded in the industry as best-in-class. He has also supported clients recovering from launches that did not quite meet expectations. His experience covers primary care, a number of specialties, and rare diseases.

David is also a leader in our Private Equity Practice and directs our healthcare relationship with several leading institutions. He has personally led diligence efforts and supported several of the largest transactions over the last decade. He brings a uniquely broad view to healthcare.

In addition to his client commitments, David chairs the development committee of the board for the Center for Civilians in Conflict. This organization works to make warring parties more accountable for civilian casualties–before, during, and after conflict.

Prior to joining McKinsey’s New York office in 1998, David held a variety of line management positions in the energy industry. He holds an MBA from INSEAD, France, cum laude, a MSc from the Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and a BA with honors, from University College Dublin, Ireland.
