About Curt

Curt advises healthcare organizations that offer direct patient services, helping them take stock of their operational performance and pursue strategic improvements. Working with executives and leaders to improve both the efficiency and quality of care, he advises on how to streamline clinical and other supporting processes.

In his 15-year consulting career, Curt has worked with a broad range of healthcare providers, including hospitals, health systems, physician practices, retail pharmacies, diagnostic labs, and home care providers. He specializes in analysis and redesign of operations that result in significant cost savings while simultaneously setting higher standards for patient service.

Examples of his work include:

  • leading operational efficiency programs for multiple community hospitals that included improvements in patient throughput, supplies utilization, and labor management
  • conducting a comprehensive, top-down assessment of cost reduction opportunities across all departments for a leading children’s hospital
  • implementing a program of operational performance improvements for a leading academic medical center’s inpatient units and outpatient clinics

Curt has published articles on improving cost and quality of care in leading journals, including the Harvard Business Review, Hospitals & Health Networks, Becker’s Hospital Review, strategy + business, and Healthcare Finance News. A former captain and helicopter pilot in the US Marine Corps, Curt is active in his community and serves on the board of trustees for a Seattle-area Montessori school.
