About Christian

Christian is the managing partner of our Swiss office and a director of McKinsey. He advises a broad array of Swiss-based institutions on strategy development, operations, organizational transformation, governance, and risk, and serves government bodies on macroeconomic and policy issues.

As the former head of our Banking Practice in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Christian has deep expertise in financial services and has served many banks and insurance companies in Switzerland and across Europe. He has also been closely involved in McKinsey’s efforts to support troubled banks and advise government bodies in the wake of the financial crisis.

Based in our Zurich office, Christian has been active across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa. He has also spent a year in McKinsey’s Greater China office supporting clients in the Far East. Before embarking on his career as a consultant, he worked in the investment banking division of a large Swiss bank. He has a PhD in international business and an MA in international economics and econometrics from the University of St. Gallen.
