He oversees large-scale commercial transformations to achieve profitable growth for his clients in packaged goods, advanced materials, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. He is particularly well-known for his focus on innovations in revenue management and helps his clients tap into big data for long-term value creation.
During his 15 years with McKinsey, Brian has become increasingly passionate about new ways of turning big data into profitable growth opportunities, often in the context of pricing and promotions optimization efforts. He is one of the fathers of the Periscope suite of tools, including proprietary hands-on solutions in pricing, promotions, trade terms, assortment, and performance management. As the CEO of Periscope, Brian is one of the pioneers of McKinsey Solutions. McKinsey Solutions is a new type of client service that aims to equip clients to measure performance, design improvements, and deliver results through analytical tools, proprietary data, and specialist expertise.
Brian is a sought-after industry expert and frequently brings his experience to bear on expert discussions of topics such as consumer pricing and price-increase execution. He holds a PhD from Northwestern and multiple bachelor degrees from Cornell. Prior to joining McKinsey, he has worked in research and development capacities for companies including Allied Signal and Hoechst-Celanese. Brian has also been a part of academic joint ventures in areas including electronic packaging and utilities.
