Bob is a senior partner in our Chicago office and leads our Oil & Gas Practice in the Americas. In addition, he is a leader of our initiatives in industrial biotech and clean energy.

Bob advises clients in the petroleum, electric power, natural gas, chemicals, advanced materials, and basic materials industries on strategy, organization, and performance improvement. He also works extensively with private-equity firms on investments and divestments within these and other industries.

Among his recent client projects, Bob has supported a major Gulf oil company in developing a growth strategy and analyzing opportunities in products and services, markets, and channels; advised a leading chemicals company on commercializing its R&D pipeline in the automotive, energy, and electronics industries; and worked with a large fertilizer company in an extensive productivity improvement program covering all its mines and chemical plants.

He has conducted numerous due diligence studies in energy and chemicals for leading private-equity firms, supported a top solar player with the development of its strategic and tactical plans, and advised an oil and gas major on a strategy to benefit from low gas prices and shale gas production in North America.

Outside his client work, Bob is a regular speaker at conferences and industry events. Before joining McKinsey, he was a senior consultant with Arthur Andersen.
