About Bjarne

Bjarne is the global director of the McKinsey Center for Government (MCG), based in McKinsey’s Copenhagen office. For nearly two decades, Bjarne has spent his career in politics and policy-making, most recently as the Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament in Denmark. In these capacities, Bjarne has had the privilege to drive positive change for the public by devising strategies for economic recovery and governance through budget and tax reform, promoting private sector growth and competitiveness, and developing a variety of projects in primary education, digitization, defense,  labor market, and benefit reforms.

In Bjarne’s role as the global director of the McKinsey Center for Government, his primary focus is to bring McKinsey’s knowledge and deep expertise to global governments, with the goal of driving sustainable change. His work at MCG focuses on key issues related to Public Finance and driving impact in the service of Ministries of Finance, including new approaches for budget process and economic planning. In addition, MCG also aims to pave the way for disruptive use of advanced analytics in the public sector. Bjarne seeks to explore opportunities across a wide variety of options for enhanced productivity, citizen-centric innovation, and evidence-based decision-making to secure better outcomes.
