About André

André brings expertise in a wide range of topics to his work with media and technology companies, governments, and nonprofit institutions. He helps lead our High Tech, Media & Entertainment, and Telecom practices in the Americas. Andre spearheads our work on education as part of the leadership team of both our Social Sector office and the McKinsey Center for Government. He helped create McKinsey Academy, which offers online professional development programs. André is also a leader in our Strategy practice, focusing on reputation, government, and regulatory strategy and helping to direct the efforts of the McKinsey Asia Center.

Among recent projects, André supported performance-transformation programs for a number of US state and local governments, helped a consumer-electronics company develop its go-to-market capabilities, worked on a market-entry strategy for an online-information-services provider, and advised a media company on postmerger management. He is deeply involved in McKinsey's research on education topics—specifically, student outcomes, instructional models, affordability, facility utilization, research productivity, and administrative efficiency in higher education.

André is a co-author of the 1997 book, Sustaining the Asia Pacific Miracle: Environmental Protection and Economic Integration, for which he received a grant from the MacArthur Foundation. In 2003, the World Economic Forum named him one of 100 "global leaders for tomorrow."

Prior to joining McKinsey, André was a research fellow at Yale Law School. He holds law degrees from Yale and the University of Sydney. He currently serves on the board of the Brooklyn Academy of Music and is a former vice-chair of the United Way of New York City.
