During the interview process, you’ll learn more about our work and culture; and we hope to learn more about you and your experiences.
The first step to a career at McKinsey Netherlands is to prepare your application. Simply fill in our online application form and attach your cover letter, CV, and copies of your grades (secondary school and university). Within 10 days, we will let you know whether you will be invited to a first round of interviews.
An interview is an opportunity for both you and us to find out whether McKinsey is the right choice for you. You will gain a detailed picture of our values and the kinds of problems we solve.
In the first round of interviews, you will have three 1-hour interviews. One will be with a recruiter, who will assess your team skills, initiative, drive, ambition, and powers of persuasion. The other two will be with consultants, who will test both your social skills and your ability to solve problems, based on case studies. These case studies are likely to be wide-ranging discussions that assess your approach to situations you are not prepared for, your problem-solving skills, your intellectual curiosity, and your insight.
We are also interested in your most significant past experiences and achievements, and the steps you have taken to achieve successful outcomes.
During the interviews you will have ample opportunity to ask questions about consulting and working at McKinsey.
After the first round of interviews, we will consider inviting you to another round. In this second and final round, you will speak with three partners from the Amsterdam office. Here too, a case study forms part of the interviews. We also pay particular attention to your motivation and your ability to work well in teams.
At the end of each round of interviews, you will receive feedback from the interviewers and information on next steps. Each year, there are five start dates for new consultants.
We have created a comprehensive set of materials to support you in your interview preparation, which are available on our global Careers site. You will find further detailed information on the “Interview process” Web page, including a practice test, a video, and practice case studies.
