"From Made in China' to "Sold in China"
A new MGI report predicts a massive middle class will emerge in China as the country transitions to a more consumption-led economy and incomes grow. The urban consumer markets, in particular, will develop rapidly, moving from 43 percent of the population today, to 69 percent by 2015, and 76 percent by 2025. Most important, this urban phenomenon will spread beyond China’s large wealthy coastal cities, to smaller cities further inland.

A Tale of Two Financial Systems: A Comparison of India and China
New research on the financial systems of China and India finds that they face very similar problems, despite the fact these systems grew from very dissimilar roots. Both countries are now pursuing growth strategies based on relatively free markets, yet neither has the financial system it needs to sustain rapid and efficient growth in the years ahead.

Two of the latest installments of a MGI column regularly published in BusinessWeek Online look at Sweden's lessons for Europe as well the China and India financial systems. An op-ed published in Singapore’s Straits Times during the World Bank-IMF Annual Meeting suggests that China and India still face significant risks from their financial systems and must implement a tough, and politically difficult, reform agenda if they are to unleash their economies' full potential.
