MGI is led by three McKinsey directors based in the Americas, Asia, and Europe and a director of research. They advise research teams and set MGI's research agenda with input from McKinsey's director of firm knowledge, academic advisors and other experts.
Richard Dobbs
Richard Dobbs is a director of the McKinsey Global Institute and a director (senior partner) of McKinsey & Company based in Seoul. From 2004 to 2009, Richard co-led McKinsey's Corporate Finance practice, where he was also responsible for research and development. He has served clients around the world in a variety of industries, ranging from high tech and financial services to petroleum, utilities, and the public sector.
James Manyika is a director of the McKinsey Global Institute and a director (senior partner) of McKinsey & Company based in San Francisco. As a leader in McKinsey's Global High Tech and Strategy Practice, he serves several of the world's leading communication, internet, software and systems companies on a variety of issues, in particular on growth, innovation, strategy, and organization. James has led several major research efforts on the impact of technology on business, the economy, and society.
Charles Roxburgh is a director of the McKinsey Global Institute and a director (senior partner) of McKinsey & Company based in London. From 2006 to 2009 he led McKinsey's Global Corporate and Investment Banking practice. Charles has served a wide range of financial institutions on issues of strategy, risk management, and organization and has led a number of research efforts.
Susan Lund is director of MGI research and is based in McKinsey's Washington office. She oversees MGI's research on a full-time basis and has expertise in capital markets.
