Phase 1 (Weeks 2-5): Spinoff of Growth Business
After the kick-off, the team examined the different parts of the business. One part is a real growth star, but it is not a core part of the business and only comprises 10 percent of total revenue. Would this part be a better business if it were not a part of this company? After examining economic and strategic synergies, identifying costs and benefits to separation, and modeling deal economics, Phase 1 ended with a board meeting, in which the team recommended restructuring the company to spin out this growth business.
