McKinsey is a demanding place to work, but we do our best to let off steam. The office funds a wide range of social activities, from dinners to parties to full-blown retreats. Over the course of the past year, we have enjoyed several big social events and a host of smaller, more regular team events. Below are a few examples.

OFFICE RETREAT
Every year, consultants and their spouses go away for a special event in a spectacular venue that enables them to get to know one another better. In the summer of 2007 we traveled for a four-day vacation in Monte Carlo. The vacation included wine tasting in a chateau, a treasure hunt in the hills, nights in the casinos and clubs, and a helicopter ride. We capped it off with an unforgettable party around the pool of a villa in Monte Carlo Bay. True McKinsey style!

OFFICE BREAKFASTS
Once a month, we gather the whole office for a big breakfast and an update from the office leadership group on new client engagements. We also provide an official welcome to any new members of our team and discuss the issues on our minds. These breakfasts help keep the whole office informed, and they create a sense of more open participation.
