The Venture business plan competition , jointly organized by the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, the Swiss innovation promotion agency CTI, and McKinsey Switzerland, supports teams of young entrepreneurs in developing their business ideas into professional business plans. Venture offers participants coaching, workshops, networking opportunities, and prize money of CHF 150,000. The competition began in 1998 and takes place every two years.
Venture 2010 is the seventh edition of the competition and builds on the success of the previous rounds. Overall, Venture has so far led to the development of more than 1,200 business ideas, resulting in the founding of more than 200 new companies offering new, mostly high-quality jobs.

To support innovative, fast-growing start-up companies with seed money, coaching, and network contacts, the Venture Incubator was set up in 2001 by McKinsey, the ETH Zurich, and ten major Swiss companies (ABB, Credit Suisse, Hilti, Nestlé, Novartis, Pictet, Schindler, Sulzer, Suva, and the ZKB).
The Venture Incubator manages an investment fund of CHF 101 million, and investors represent ten blue-chip enterprises from industry and finance.

McKinsey Switzerland is one of the founding members of "Avenir Suisse ," an independent Swiss think tank established in 2000. The idea of the foundation is to stimulate discussion of new ideas and develop innovative solutions to social, political, and business issues in Switzerland.
