Thinking about entering the world of management consulting? Would you like to get a taste of consulting for a few months, and experience what it's like to work in a team developing solutions for our clients?

Our internships are your chance to get a first-hand impression of the day-to-day working life of a McKinsey consultant, including some of the challenges and pressures presented by an actual engagement (our term for client projects). Experienced consultants will provide you with on-going guidance and coaching which is fundamental to how we work. Our internships offer a real chance to meet and work with our people: from the partner who'll oversee your progress to the consultants who'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with you, to the "buddy" who'll act as an informal sounding board and answer your questions.

Our 8- to 12-week internship is open to students enrolled at a Swiss university (third-year B.A./B.Sc., M.A./M.Sc. or Ph.D.). It runs throughout the whole year and is targeted to students with strong analytical and communication skills.

In addition to an outstanding academic record, you will also have been involved in extra-curricular activities. You like to find solutions to problems and enjoy working as part of a team. Your command of either German or French is excellent, and you have good English skills.

As an intern, you'll work in a project team from your first day with us, and you will have direct contact with our clients. After a detailed introduction to project work you will receive regular coaching and feedback.

Please note that the recruiting process  is a shortened version of the permanent hires process. Candidates will complete the morning round only, with a problem-solving test and three interviews, instead of a full day.

The 10-week summer associate program runs between June and August and is open to individuals currently studying for an M.B.A. at international business schools who are on summer break between their first and second years. Students should first contact their campus career services to see if McKinsey has a program there and to learn more about the application process and deadline.
