Client Challenge
A major aerospace and automotive conglomerate recently engaged a Stamford-based McKinsey team to pursue an acquisition strategy. The company faced slow growth in its core markets, and felt that it must make an acquisition to improve overall performance.
A six member team, led by a Stamford director, performed primary research including multiple expert interviews in different industries. They then analyzed thirty potential acquisition candidates for business potential and fit with the client. Armed with this analysis, the team brought their recommendation to the company's CEO, who successfully negotiated with the most attractive targets.

"Because McKinsey's aerospace community is small and close-knit, I was able to influence the global practice's direction. It was great to have that opportunity so early in my career."
