Engagement Diversity
At McKinsey we work closely with our clients to help them implement change in their organization. We do this by analyzing their issues and opportunities from a comprehensive top management point of view. Our raw data for analysis comes from a variety of sources including client databases, client interviews, industry data, economic indicators, trade associations in the client's industry, government agencies, and surveys and market studies that consultant’s devise and implement. When presenting our recommendations to the client, our biggest concern is ensuring that the changes will have long-lasting positive impact on the client’s organization.

Our client portfolio is made up of local market leaders and multinational companies that have entered the region. We also serve clients in the public and nonprofit sectors. The majority of the Prague and Bratislava offices’ engagements are in the financial and insurance industries, as well as telecommunications, consumer goods, and utilities. Our clients look to us for assistance in making lasting improvements in key issues, such as strategy, sales and marketing, operations, and information systems.

Engagements 
No two companies face exactly the same challenges. We provide independent, original problem-solving support, tailoring our approach to each client's needs, goals, culture, and circumstances. But while we insist on custom solutions, we follow a consistent approach to working with clients. We believe this approach offers advantages to both our teams and our clients. From the first to the last day of a engagement we focus on the issues concerning top management as solving these issues will have the greatest overall impact in the organization. While maintaining this perspective we establish a solid fact base, involve the client in problem solving, preserve the strictest confidentiality for the client, and dedicate 100% of our time and resources.

Nearly half the work we do focuses on strategy, corporate finance and growth, overall organization, and related policy areas. Another important part of our activities consists of direct efforts to improve operational effectiveness by helping clients reverse a downturn in profits, reorient their product/market strategies, cut operating and overhead costs, and increase productivity. We also do extensive work in major functional areas when the problems involved are of concern to top management. These areas include research and development, finance, sales and marketing, manufacturing and distribution, planning and control, information management, and information technology.

Client Focus 
Historically, McKinsey has been a thought partner and trusted advisor to the largest companies in the world. While this trend continues, we have begun to serve the public sector, governments, non-profit institutions, small to mid-sized businesses, and high tech start-ups. Our client organizations belong to a variety of industries – including automotive, banking, energy, health care, insurance, manufacturing, public utilities, retailing, telecommunications, and transportation.
