Active with clients in the former Czechoslovakia since 1991, the Prague office was established as a part of the McKinsey Central and Eastern European office group in 1994. Our first client, back in 1991, was actually based in Slovakia. A rapidly growing client base in Slovakia has brought our plans to fruition, and in 2002 we opened a working office in the Slovak capital. The location supports consultants and clients with meeting rooms and a complete IT infrastructure.
The key to our client service is our ability to integrate our know-how in functional areas with our deep industry knowledge—on a global scale. McKinsey is organized into industry and functional practices that drive research and knowledge building within their fields. The practices’ expertise is available to our teams worldwide. Below you can read about the functional practices that are in the Prague office.
The Business Technology Office (BTO) supports clients to find solutions to their critical technology-related issues, while still using the McKinsey problem-solving approach. We assist companies in developing IT strategies, designing their IT governance and organization models, improving their business operations (including the use of outsourcing), strengthening the value of their customer relationships, and crafting innovative approaches to IT architecture.
The Corporate Finance Practice provides our clients with advice on issues related to transactions (domestic and cross-border M&A, joint ventures, alliances), capital markets (value creation, IPO process, investor relations), and the finance function (organization, operations).
The Marketing and Sales Practice focuses on the most relevant marketing issues—issues that reflect the real-world concerns of business leaders, such as marketing strategy, pricing, sales and channel management, branding and marketing return on investment (ROI), customer life cycle management (CLM), customer insights, marketing organization, and capability building.
McKinsey also has seven other Central and Eastern European locations: Bucharest, Budapest, Kiev, Moscow, Sofia, Warsaw, and Zagreb.
