Learning Programs

As a consultant with McKinsey you will be simultaneously learning and performing an active role, while always supported by a mixture of formal and team-based mentoring.

Following structured basic training, you will be assigned to client work and straight away be expected to have impact. You will find that your responsibilities and influence increase as you progress toward managing or directing an entire project. Ultimately your personal development may lead to becoming a partner. Our career progression philosophy is based on merit, not tenure, so you will advance when ready.

Formal Learning
Formal learning programs begin the moment you start and last throughout your career. All recruits complete our Basic Consulting Readiness (BCR) program during their first week. BCR is designed to introduce consultants to key consulting skills before joining their first client study.

All business analysts are invited to an on-line "business bridge" program covering microeconomics, finance, strategy, marketing, and accounting, taught by faculty from Oxford University and the Tuck Business School, a top U.S. business school.

Associates without M.B.A.s may be invited to join our special "mini-M.B.A. program," an advanced business crash-course where you will mix with McKinsey people from around the globe and learn the basics of business, finance, strategy, economics and marketing.
