Collegiality
How do we define collegiality?
Friendship. Cohesiveness. Support. These are hallmarks of a bond that brings people together in the pursuit of a single goal. Without this sense of camaraderie, we could not function as well as we do in our client work or our personal interactions.

How do we support it?
The office leadership fosters this bond by making a substantial and active investment in social events. These events are designed with the sole purpose of bringing people together in a nonwork environment.

The leadership commissions several groups, each of which is given a substantial budget, for creating smaller but more frequent social events like happy hours and theme parties. Firm leaders also go out of their way to make the time to attend and host social events to signal to people that these are important. Each location also has its own version of the Friday "Office Lunch" where staff in the office gather and share office news.

How is it reflected?
The only true way to "measure" collegiality is to experience the friendships that so many of our people enjoy. To help cultivate these relationships, we hold regular events such as holiday parties and formal black tie events, in addition to professional retreats, informal happy hours, "cohesiveness" breakfasts, recruiting dinners, and retreats. It is easy to see that there are plenty of opportunities for people in our Complex to have fun and enjoy the company of our colleagues.
