Known as Motown, or the Motor City, the Detroit metropolitan area is home to over 6 million people, several universities, some of the most successful manufacturing and service companies in the world, and a variety of professional sports teams. The addition of two stadiums – housing the Lions professional football team and the Tigers professional baseball team – has made downtown the place to be for hockey, basketball, football, and baseball fans. All of this in a cosmopolitan cultural setting, accompanied by the natural beauty of Michigan and its hundreds of lakes.
Founded in 1701 by the French explorer Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, Detroit is now home to people from around the globe. This cultural diversity is celebrated in the world-class Detroit Institute of Arts, and in ethnic neighborhoods. Furthermore, the diversity of Canada is just minutes away across the Detroit river.
The Detroit area offers a wide range of attractions. From enjoying the nightlife in Royal Oak and Birmingham, experiencing a Big Ten football game in Ann Arbor, touring the historic estates of the automotive pioneers, to boating on Lake St. Clair, Detroit has something for everyone.
As we like to say - "It's a great time in Detroit."
