Calgary

Calgary is the largest city in the province of Alberta, with a population of just over one million. It is a young city—approximately half of its population is under the age of 35—and has an entrepreneurial feel and a strong work ethic.

The Calgary location, opened in 2006, is new and growing. We are surrounded by evidence that Alberta is experiencing a historic growth period, fueled by the province’s vast energy (oil and gas) reserves.

Although we are one of McKinsey’s smallest global offices, we enjoy a strong local culture that makes the office feel like a family. Every Friday we have lunch together. We have a December dinner dance, ski day, and, as might be expected for this city, a “Stampede” party (the Calgary Stampede is known as the “greatest outdoor show on earth”). We also enjoy chamber music, opera, and ballet at the Calgary Philharmonic.
