Preparing for a career in genius
We are looking for exceptional third- and fourth-year undergrads to join our Crossroads event—people who are passionate about tackling some of Africa’s most pressing problems and want to make a difference to the future of the continent.
Crossroads offers the opportunity for intense personal growth and development. On this full-weekend programme, participants will:
- Crack a real business issue for a social sector client;
- Work with McKinsey consultants and experience the McKinsey approach;
- Interact with peers from diverse backgrounds but at similar stages in their academic careers;
- Participate in workshops on improving personal effectiveness; and
- Leave with a set of new skills that are immediately applicable to any future career choice.
Event details
· Weekend event on 30 July to 1 August, departing on Friday afternoon and returning on Sunday afternoon
· McKinsey to host the event, covering expenses including travel, accommodation, food, and drinks
Programme
The programme is a mix of training and coaching, solving a real-life business case, and fun activities. You will learn a lot, meet some very interesting people, and get to know what McKinsey is all about. You will develop skills that you can apply immediately. Together with students from a whole range of disciplines, you will tackle a real business case for a social entrepreneur.
The programme has two unique components:
· Skill building: You will improve personal skills that are useful in many contexts, for example, solving problems and leading meetings.
· Personal coaching: You will receive coaching and personal feedback from McKinsey consultants. You will learn more about your strengths and weaknesses and get insights on how to develop further.
