Milestones

1926 

James O. McKinsey founded an accounting and management engineering firm, called James O. McKinsey and Company, in Chicago.

1959

The first European office opens in London.

1994

South Africa holds its first democratic elections and McKinsey sends its first team to the country to help a client.

1995

McKinsey opens the Johannesburg office in Rosebank and soon moves to offices in Sandton.

2002

The Johannesburg office becomes an independent office in the firm.

2006 The Sub-Saharan Africa office takes on a larger role as the Sub-Saharan Africa office.

2006

The Sub-Saharan office has completed it's 500th engagement in Africa.
