Our Office
Johannesburg provides the ideal location for the Sub-Saharan Africa office and puts us on the footsteps of the leading organisations shaping the African continent.
We have a huge responsibility to make a difference here in a country that is going to be a real leader in Africa.
The Johannesburg office opened in 1995, soon after South Africa’s first democratic elections. We now have over 100 people working in our office, still small by McKinsey standards, but that means we all know each other pretty well.
As the office has grown, so has our portfolio of work and clients. With Sub-Saharan Africa entering a period of unprecedented economic growth came the call to help more and more clients from outside South Africa’s borders. This led to the Johannesburg office expanding its focus and becoming the McKinsey Sub-Saharan Africa office.
